From Vectors to AI: Mathematics Department Hosts Academic Seminar

The Department of Mathematics of Ambedkar College of Arts and Science, Wandoor, organised a seminar titled “From Vectors to Artificial Intelligence: How the Mathematics You Already Know Opens the Door to AI” on Thursday, 22 October 2026, at 2 p.m. at the Ayyankali Seminar Hall. The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Shamsudheen E, Principal of the college. Dr. Muhammad Rafeeq K V, Ad-hoc Faculty in the Department of Mathematics at the School of Sciences, National Institute of Science and Technology, Andhra Pradesh, served as the resource person. The seminar aimed to familiarise students with the connections between mathematical concepts and emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence.

The session highlighted how fundamental mathematical principles, including vectors and related concepts, contribute to the development and functioning of AI systems. It sought to help students recognise the practical applications of mathematics in modern technological advancements and explore opportunities in the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence. The programme provided an academic platform for students to broaden their knowledge beyond the classroom and understand the growing relevance of mathematics in scientific research and innovation. The initiative reflected the Department of Mathematics’ commitment to promoting scientific curiosity, technological awareness and interdisciplinary learning among students.
